Simberi Mining Corporation is a Canada based international mineral development company that focuses on early to mid stage properties that have a high potential for near term production. Simberi's primary mineral development project is the Kakanda Copper/Cobalt project (Simberi 70%) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (“DRC”). This significant copper/cobalt deposit is localized in the Central African Copper Belt. The Kakanda project has a NI 43-101 compliant report that details significant copper and cobalt resources contained within old tailings and associated hard rock mineralization.
Simberi also participates in exploration projects in Australia. The Merlot property (Simberi 100%) is located in the Mt. Margaret mineral field in Western Australia covers a portion of the Sefton Lineament, a major structural feature that is host for copper, nickel and platinum group metals. Simberi also has a shareholding in Raisama Pty Ltd., a uranium and base metal company that has a significant property holding in Western Australia. Raisama is now proceeding to list on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Corporate Highlights
The Corporation held its Annual General and Special Meeting of Shareholders on August 14, 2009, where it approved its board of directors, its auditors, re-approved its stock option plan, approved a special resolution authorizing the directors to effect a name change and approved a special resolution authorizing the directors to effect a consolidation of common shares of the Corporation.
The Corporation entered into a letter of intent with Lori Energy Inc. in June 2009, to enable the Corporation to acquire up to a 100% interest in the Kaburi Licence, property located in the Mazaruni mining district of Guyana. Due diligence on this transaction is continuing.
The Corporation announced in January 2009 that Générale des Carrières et des Mines (“Gécamines”) and The Corporation’s wholly owned subsidiary PTM Minerals have signed a Memorandum of Understanding based on their 1997 agreement that will be the basis to establish a joint venture Kakanda Mining Development to exploit the Kakanda tailings deposit. This MOU is in accordance with the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Mining Revisitation Program. Negotiations to finalize the joint venture agreement with Gécamines for the development of the Kakanda copper/cobalt project are currently continuing with the Democratic Republic of Congo government officials. In addition the Corporation completed an updated 43-101 compliant technical report on the Kakanda Copper/Cobalt project in the Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Corporation holds shares in Korab Resources, an ASX listed company, as the result of the sale of the Mt. Elephant property located in Western Australia.
The Corporation holds shares in Blackham Resources Limited, an ASWX listed company, as a result of the sale of the Zanthus lignite property.
The Corporation holds 100% interest in two Exploration Licenses of the Merlot Project to hold a 100% interest in the property. The property has an extensive dyke swarm system that is associated with a major northwest/southeast lineament feature known as the Sefton Lineament.
